Examination and Evaluation

At Indian Matric Higher Secondary School (IMS), we follow a Tri-Semester System paired with the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) Pattern for classes I to VII. This system ensures that students are continuously assessed and receive comprehensive feedback on their academic progress.

  • Formative Assessment (FA)

  • Summative Assessment (SA)

Purpose and Process

Formative Assessment is an ongoing process that occurs during the course of learning. It is designed to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback, enabling both students and teachers to identify areas of improvement and strengths.

Components

Daily assessments include various activities and slip tests conducted in the classroom.

Activities may involve quizzes, oral presentations, projects, class participation, and other interactive methods.

Weightage

Formative Assessment constitutes 40 marks of the total evaluation for each subject.

Frequency

Since it is continuous, students are assessed every day, encouraging consistent engagement and effort.

Purpose and Process

Summative Assessment evaluates the student’s comprehensive understanding and mastery of the subject matter at the end of each term.

Components

Written examinations are conducted at the end of each term to assess the knowledge and skills acquired during that period.

Weightage

Summative Assessment constitutes 60 marks of the total evaluation for each subject.

Term-End Evaluation

The assessments focus on the specific portions covered within the term, ensuring a focused and in-depth understanding of each segment.
