Guidelines for Students

At *Indian Matric Higher Secondary School (IMS)*, we uphold a set of guidelines to ensure a respectful, disciplined, and orderly environment conducive to learning. Students are expected to familiarize themselves with these rules and adhere to them consistently. The following guidelines are designed to promote the well-being and academic success of all students:

General Conduct and Responsibilities

Handbook (Diary)

  • Students must bring their handbook (diary) to school every day.
  • Parents are required to sign the handbook daily to acknowledge notices and ensure communication.

Attendance and Punctuality

  • Students must be present on the school campus before 09:00 a.m. on all working days.
  • If a student takes leave, a leave letter signed by a parent must be submitted to the Principal or Vice Principal the next day, before handing it over to the class teacher.

Campus Cleanliness and Order

  • Students are expected to keep the school premises neat and clean.
  • The use of gold or valuable ornaments within the school premises is prohibited.

Behavior and Decorum

  • Silence must be maintained during prayer, assemblies, and dispersal.
  • Classrooms and corridors are designated as “Noise-Free Zones.” Students making noise in these areas may face disciplinary actions.
  • Students are responsible for their personal belongings, including books, lunch bags, and other items, and must ensure they take them home safely.

Leave and Attendance Policy

  • Students are not allowed to leave the school during class hours without permission from the Principal or Vice Principal.
  • 100% attendance is expected throughout the academic year. Latecomers and absentees must obtain the Principal’s or Vice Principal’s signature on the late attendance/absence records before entering class.

Language and Communication

  • Students must speak only in English while inside the classroom and on the school campus.

Academic Integrity and Behavior

  • Academic dishonesty, such as copying in examinations, irregular homework, or attendance, as well as violent behavior, may result in dismissal from the school.
  • Students must not take leave without permission from the Principal or Vice Principal during school examinations or activities.

Respect and Etiquette

  • Students should show due respect to teachers and staff, both inside and outside the school.

Dress Code

Boys

  • Must wear the prescribed school uniform, tuck in shirts, and ensure the uniform is washed and ironed.
  • Hair should be kept short, neatly combed, and nails trimmed.

Girls

  • Must wear the prescribed school uniform, ensuring it is washed and ironed.
  • Hair should follow the prescribed styles, nails should be trimmed, and no excessive accessories or flowers should be worn.

By adhering to these guidelines, students contribute to a positive and productive learning environment. We expect all students to take these rules seriously and to understand that they are in place to benefit everyone in the school community.
